Three Attorneys Named Best Lawyers

Three WCJ lawyers were recently selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2014. Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which tens of thousands of leading attorneys cast almost 5 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular, and significant, honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers "the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice."

  • Robert S. Jones - Tax Law, Trusts and Estates, Trusts and Estates Litigation
  • Paul Waddell - Employment Law-Individuals, Employment Law-Management, Labor and Employment Litigation, Medical Malpractice Law

Shane Baker Named Principal

Shane Baker has been named Principal with Waddell, Cole & Jones, P.A.  Baker joined the firm in 2003 after serving as a Deputy Prosecutor with the Benton County, Arkansas Prosecuting Attorney's Office. There, Baker gained significant courtroom experience, which continues to inform his present day practice. The Jonesboro native returned to Northeast Arkansas in June of 2003 when he became a member of Waddell, Cole & Jones's litigation team. Given his prior litigation experience, Baker was able to quickly add to the depth and breadth of WCJ's insurance defense practice, and he has continued to expand relationships with WCJ's insurance industry clients. In addition to handling a variety of commercial litigation matters, Baker's practice includes the representation of both insurance companies and policyholders in personal injury, wrongful death, catastrophic loss, property damage, and breach of contract claims, including first-party claims of bad faith. Baker also counsels the firm's clients on insurance policy coverage issues, providing coverage opinions with respect to comprehensive general liability policies, automobile liability policies, homeowner's policies, excess coverage, endorsements, and exclusions. Still, the backbone of Baker's practice remains in litigation, having served as lead counsel in 30 jury trials since entering private practice.

Baker earned his undergraduate degree in Criminology from Arkansas State University in 1998. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2001. He is admitted to practice in all state trial and appellate courts in Arkansas, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
